Labor Day 2022 will be celebrated on Monday, September 5, marking the unofficial end of summer and warmth. All banks and government offices are closed in observation of the holiday. Schools and the US Stock Market are also closed on this federally recognized holiday. Most businesses recognize Labor Day as a federal holiday, all federally run entities are typically closed (Post Office, Federal Reserve, etc..). Some smaller branches can decide their own schedule, but almost all are closed.
Labor Day is considered a nationwide holiday and an annual celebration for American workers. It was created as a formal federal holiday in 1885. It was signed into law by President Grover Cleveland making it the first Monday of every September the observed day each year.
