As we approach Memorial Day 2023, it’s important to note that all major banks and credit unions across the country will be closed. This means that if you need to conduct any financial transactions, you will need to plan ahead.

Besides, banks and credit unions, the US post office will also close on Memorial Day. This means that if you need to send any mail or packages, you will need to do so before or after the holiday. The US stock market is also closed on Memorial Day, which means that there will be no trading on this day.

While most people associate Memorial Day as a day of barbecues, picnics, and outdoor activities, it’s important to remember the original meaning of the holiday. Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor those who have died while serving in the military. This includes members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Memorial Day was first observed in 1868 as Decoration Day, meant to honor those who had died in the Civil War. After WWI, the holiday expanded to include all service members who had died in any war or military conflict.

Today, Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States. It’s not uncommon for people to visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day to pay their respects to fallen service members. Parades and other ceremonies are also held across the US to honor those who have served and died for our country.

While Memorial Day is an important day of remembrance, it’s also important to remember that it has become a booming holiday for travel. A lot of people take advantage of the long weekend to go on vacation, visit family and friends, or do anything outdoors.

If you need to do any banking transactions on Memorial Day, you can still use an ATM to make a deposit or withdrawal. But, keep in mind that these transactions will not marked as being done on a business day and will not post until the following day.

So go out on the lake or BBQ this Memorial Day and remember and honor those who have died while serving this country. It’s also a great day to reflect on the sacrifices that our service members and their families have made for our freedom. It’s important to remember the true meaning of the holiday and to take time to honor our fallen heroes.
