Banks are closed on 1/17/22 for MLK Day.
Banks along with the US stock market are closed on Martin Luther King Day. The birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is recognized as a federal holiday since 1983. On the 3rd Monday in the month of June, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of the civil rights leader. Almost all businesses and institutions around the United States are closed for this holiday. Private businesses, however, tend to stay open on MLK day which includes pharmacies, grocery stores, bars, gas stations, coffee shops, and restaurants.
The Post office is also closed. Schools and universities for the most part are also closed and will not hold any classes that day. The only exception for federal entities that are not closed on MLK day would be national parks.
